My belonging,
my direction,
comes from quiet habits
rustled loose and left to dangle
like paint peeling up
from an old house

The color under
all the others
is always white

Somewhere there are minds...
genius in nature,
honing one more series of ideals,
and they seem rather masterful
in making them real

where I always seem unfinished

But I dress up these old bones
and make myself at home,
because there’s a fireplace
for me to burn all the letters
I’ve written to myself,
you know...how I’m gonna change...and all that...
but I never have a match

My walls are thick with them now
I guess they make me stronger,
and more apt to remember
where I started, where I’m going
and who it was that helped me get there

I pace sometimes,
drink a little wine,
and don’t look for company,
but when someone comes
I’m afraid I can’t tidy an impure mind,
or a cluttered spirit
so I just offer them a chair
somewhere in a corner
that has the highest point of view

As long as they don’t take me too seriously
they can see how my signature loops
the same way
on every page

--------------------------------

YOU unfinished....
I have never seen such a beautiful finish before, and one that grows and grows each day.
Gawd, I have missed you sister....
I need your words.....
do me a favor, k?
If you go away again, don't stay away so long next time.....
somy~ you are so beautiful...
inside and out.

And where would we be without them...
I do so enjoy reading you, your perception and mind's eye are astute and honest...accepting the wonderfully creation of the who in you which makes you so signficantly special.  Wonderful write.

Oh, save the matches, Regina!
And to be finished is, well, you know, to be finished.
I've missed you here these many months, tho I've been missing a bit myself.
Good to find you again and hope you stay awhile for the many who enjoy your work.

rwood,
Now you are not that old not according to
your picture. Maybe disillusioned but what comes around goes around and you better get ready for the next round. LOL Good write.

Wow Reg,  this is a great read...My own
walls could be cluttered with somewhat
similar thoughts on pages over the years.

Yeah,  where is the match when you think it
is time to let em burn?

Your ending ties up all the thoughts you had me pondering.
You are lovely Regina, and it is wonderful to be reading you again.

Somy~ Awwww...I can't believe how good you are to me. You're a constant heart hug when I need it. You can believe I'll be write here as long as I possibly can.

Sunnyone: You're the best...

LeeJ: I grow everytime you read me dear poetess. Your eyes see things I can't see all by myself. Thank you so very much.

Marge: Hey sweet lady. Thank you Huglets back to ya!

C: Aww..You know I admire you C! You're a great man. I'm inspired to say the least. So I can't be finished...thanks to you and the many here.

Krawdad: Big southern hug ya! So good to have you visit my fireless bon..hehe. I do look forward to you.

Sy: LOL! Yeah, I'm not too old, but I'm on the last of my spring chicken feathers. I'm ready, just hope everybody else is. Laugh!

Kellie: Such a kind reply. Thank you and so nice to meet you.

iliana: If I were to have another kid, I'd name it iliana. Your kindness is enriching to me poetess.

Marty: I'm so glad you feel that way, cuz I need a neighbor like you. You always make me feel welcome and at home when I read you.
Thanks for your gracious hospitality.

D: Thanks for helping me see stuff...you know...the stuff that I'm blind to. Stuff that seems too good to be true...stuff that makes me dance. Huggins.

Magnus: Hey poet fellow. Nah...let your grandkids read what a cool dude you are for making it through life without torching the nest. Gotta hug ya for knowing.

Blues: Thanks for not seeing the knots...I thank you from the heart. I have missed  your sky verse as well.

Love,
Reg

you touched a deep part of me and I can't really say exactly what or why, just that I felt it

Nancy: I'm so thankful for your constant support and encouragement. You all are a blessing to me, to my work, and without inspiration this stuff just sits inside my head. My gifts to you are your gifts to me. Just in a different package.

Dixie: Sisterly hugs. Deep thanks for allowing me in there where it counts.

Love,
Reg

Oh did I ever need to read this just now. This poem is a delight -- not the way you intended for it to be I'm sure, but it's just too comfortable to be anything else.

I should get in the habit of reading everything you post! ~ when you get in the habit of posting more often!

Now these would be fine habits for both of us to get into!

Lovely write ~ and very identifiable.

Life cycles...just a thought I had as reading. Your work (which I've not read in some time) remains a wonderful and endearing diversion.
