(Please note this is only an opinion piece and does not express any hate to our country or to our troops, etc. I love America with all my heart, and it is evident by my heart expressing my tears, anger, and sentiments here! I believe there are guilty consciences in whom I address here from my heart, but I also wish no harm to them, only that I pity them and pray for them. )

Battle Hymn of the Dissident
By: Noah Eaton
7/3/04

In anyone's eyes you can still see the Lord's coming,
and I believe through the wind the truth's still marching,
oh, I still think you're a grand old flag,
you're not to blame, this is all about the bootstrap...

this is about the poster child being inflated,
being dragged around as understatements,
their intentions clear, all they want is their words to be heard,
have the truth tread softly on every word,
this is about those who fill their lungs with helium,
pinching their cheeks, keep injecting them with valium,
and the minute the soda straws perforate their papier-mache,
pop goes the weasel, en-garde, touche!
Meanwhile, there the cronies are on the parapet,
lashing their tongues out at all dissent,
browsing interior designs for their Potemkin Village,
between the lawn and the front door there's always that drawbridge,
where you desecrate our flag for your own political gain,
"Either you're with us or against us" is the only excuse you can make,
when I was young, I was told this was the land of the free and the brave,
peace is the only wind in which our flag must wave...

What difference does it make if I shout,
from the east or the west?
What difference does it make,
if I lean to the right or lean to the left?
What difference does it make if I shout,
from the north or the south?
We're all are children of God,
so lower our flag down...

Funny how all we used to consider all-American,
all a sudden overnight becomes un-American,
you go about your business and butter your biscuit,
only to find out its Chiffon margarine,
the song takes on a whole different meaning with the same lyrics,
a sound of a nation long suppressed must find utterance,
happiness is all about helping the next generation,
where's our next Helen Reddy or Teddy Ruxpin?
"Patriotism is the willingness to kill and be killed for trivial reasons",
why must we be governed by instincts of hooligans,
instead of philanthropists we've got sandbaggers, second-story men,
hey, peace is the climate of freedom that Moves America Forward, Kaloogian!
This land was made for you and me, not just for a triumvirate,
alabaster cities don't gleam when the tears aren't kissed,
we must love each other regardless of differences, nolens volens,
the prominent clause in the battle hymn of the dissident...

What difference does it make if I shout,
from the east or the west?
What difference does it make,
if I lean to the right or lean to the left?
What difference does it make if I shout,
from the north or the south?
We're all are children of God,
so lower our flag down...

Some reading this probably look at me like some Blythe Doll,
picking at the same old infected gall,
hey, all I am is a sensitive moon child, that's all,
I want to help the world to sing, not staring into a magic 8-ball,
if you think I don't love my country, explain my anger,
when you have tears and fears, you're no stranger,
why must we start the presses while running the danger,
keep our children afraid and hit by the same old Kabanger,
patriotism don't care about principle, only real estate,
once they're on the gravy train, their abstinence still won't abate,
they'll divide and conquer the leeway, forgetting to remunerate,
all they want is to accumulate, incorporate, dominate,
Halliburton's hurtin' and squirtin', flirtin' with our minds,
hey you can't get rid of poverty by giving people money, Rubenstein,
go on and keep molding your round table of Carlyle Frankensteins,
when you find yourself alone, what will you call, 867-5309?
everywhere we're taunted by fear as if its Abu Ghraib,
our soldiers are treated like remote-controlled government slaves,
the secret police bruising and clubbing all us dissidents,
hey, Ridge, who do you think you are, Stefanowicz?
Methinks Bush is a war criminal and should be locked in jail for life,
you can count on his election record being 0-2 come November 2nd night,
but my heart has room to forgive all these wronged guys,
for Jesus forgave all who sinned and I know His way is right,
roots and wings are the bequests we must give our kids,
don't teach them what love is not, teach them what love is,
let's sell Patriot Games at a yard sale, and get out Candyland from the attic,
may our children live free again as free spirits...

What difference does it make if I shout,
from the east or the west?
What difference does it make,
if I lean to the right or lean to the left?
What difference does it make if I shout,
from the north or the south?
We're all are children of God,
so lower our flag down...

...lower our flag so we can all reach it...

...love for a country is beautiful,

but why must love stop at the border?

"You'll find something that's enough to keep you
But if the bright lights don't receive you
You should turn yourself around and come back home" MB20

Hello Noah

I applaud you for your honesty and courage in writing this powerful piece.  Many people feel as you do but are reluctant to admit their true feelings.  Your words spoke volumes to me and your heart shone brilliantly.

"Love should never be imprisoned,
it should be given wings to fly"

Take care.........Sue

I love your honesty. You wrote these words so much feeling behind them. I loved it.

"AMEN"
Outstanding brilliant write, what scares me more then anything, is the extreme lefts and rights...it's becoming dangerous, and I believe they've got us right where they want us, and then some.  Things won't change until people stick together and demand honesty, and the money mongers keep robbing us blind, but no one says anything about it.  Each candidate says, we're giving you this or that, but believe you me, nothing is going to be for free, especially from an exhaughsted nation debit. Unless things change, things have just begun...I think?

Thanks a bunch for your thoughts.
