Choosing My Garden

I sow seeds in my mind, garden, my own.
Now lilacs of peace and roses have grown.
Though weeds still spring from a life’s daily woe,
I pluck them from mind before they can grow.

My spirit is pleased by fruit of my thought,
Sending love and peace where battles were fought.
Divine now my garden, gold now my heart,
I bloom in Eden of which I am part.

My field once barren has now overgrown,
Filling my soul with a joy never known.
Yet a spirit in love cannot be bound.
So, I send to you God’s peace I have found.

Inspired by this excerpt from
“Lord Let Me Be An Instrument Of Thy Peace”

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
It is in dying to self that we are born to eternal life.

-Saint Francis Of Assisi

Remember, one chooses his/her garden (thoughts).
May you always plant roses and lilacs.

It's so good to read your wise and wonderful poetry again.

I've missed them, and you Patricia~

You are inspired, and quite well...by St. Francis...

Enjoyed...was watching a Christian program (Robinson) today in which they said that attitude can open the door for diseases...always pays to have a positive attitude...James
