When walking around in a circle of panic
scared of the bends, corners, and curves,
sun casts a shadow between heaven and earth
and halts my steps in the middle of fear.

Shadows mean danger, beware criminals,
stay in the light of my mental capacity
to perceive in the dark enemies of my heart
and murderers waiting to cut my lifeline.

But in spheres of the natural and commonplace
there lurks the shadow of both you and me
concurrently walking and holding our hands
and laying the groundwork of future plans.

Sometimes the shadows merge into a mind,
deposit particular needs, wishes, desires,
as a still and silent unfelt energy
and wait for absorption into a brain.

And when I am cold, hungry, alone,
my shadow remains upright and bold
for there is no need of blankets, food, you,
when shadows depend on intangibles.

Yet still I crawl on my hands and knees
avoiding the pitfalls of all I can feel
implanted within to help me grow old
with the grace and strength of my special shadow.

Danger!  Beware the criminal “me”
immobile standing in the middle of fear
refusing to hold the hand of my shadow
and dance happily through panic to peace.

I’m peaceful now, no tears, desperation,
but not always so; I’m still human, you know!

There are many sides to people, to know the one whose hand you want to hold, isn't always easy.  So glad to see this...I was a little worried about you...sounds like you're just fine.

Thank you all for the read and for commenting.

Martie - I'm always fine.  Aren't we all ...  on the outside?  Thank you for your concern.
