Good one, Krawdad.  I know of a man who cannot listen to the fireworks because he is reminded of events during the VN War.  This is what this made me think of.  Hope your 4th was a good one. .....jo

HMMMM.
I wish I had super-sized headphones, so I could block out all the firecracker noises.
I keep re-hearing the Katyusha(sp?) rockets that were shot over the border at us when I lived in the ME, so many years ago, and the bus that blew up behind the one I was on as we pulled out of Tel Aviv.
War is never the answer, and I refuse to celebrate anything that honors it.
HMMM. Sorry 'bout the rant.

iliana, T_S, Kacy, Dixie,

No offense intended.
Endorsed or opposed, this was a spectacle never-the-less.
I prefer to write about what appears in front of me, whatever it is.
Thanks for your thoughtful comments.

yes, as is appropriate from a naturalist's or reporter's POV
enjoyed the write, and in no way was it offensive, even to an old die-hard pacifist/non-flag-waver such as myself

h,

You have a point.
One of these days . . .

Sometimes, mixing with the crowd makes do.
