“WHEN A WHIPPOORWILL SINGS”
By
Bill Charles
~~~~
When a whippoorwill sings at dawn’s morning light,
and its song touches this trembling heart within,
remembrance is the many days of yore gone by,
of how we were, how we were aglow, back then…
Dreams now are deep with its melody on the dawn,
and memories are strong of two lovers of long ago,
this pondering is of the distance between that came,
thoughts today are what could have been although…
When a whippoorwill sings at dawn’s morning light,
this heart beats of memories now that are lost,
all trials, tribulations, too many of coming between,
now its song is mine forever, to not be uncrossed…
I hope you plan to stay awhile!
Be welcomed back...so good to read you again Bill.
Such a melody of yearning is somehow most special to reflect upon...a thought so intense as to reverberate through time.
Oh, I heard it.  What lines, these -- truly, truly expressive!
BC,  I would be lying if I said I haven't
missed seeing your flowing pen on these
pages....Highways and Byways,  I would
assume.  Hope you are well.
Very lovely verse.  Keep your memories held tightly within your heart.  These memories will warm your heart on a cold day and put a smile on your face.   Welcome back!
HelloMyFriend~
ALWAYS a cotton-picking pleasure to find you here~
As I read this ... I just had to pull out an old Hank Williams, Sr. song ... 'So Lonesome I Could Die' ... the melancholic sound is entrancing~
Thank you for this nostalgic penning~
Well, young man, it is so nice to read your words again.  I have missed you! I have been absent from Passions for a while, as well.  I am so glad that I bumped into you on my return.
You know what?  You make me smile!
