Slowly, sweetly
creeping
ebbing for a moment
my breath is stayed
then resumes
is it love, my Love?
is it passion, my Passion?
what is this light
enfolding me?

Growing, softly
waxing
like the moon after dark
the sliver of silver
grows to a full, rich,
resounding light
shining through the black

Oh my heart,
I embrace
even the deepest recesses of night
if only your brilliance
will shine through me
I would walk through Hell
and back again
to be in your white light
but once...

I sigh, I wish, I long
the glow that surrounds you
mingles with mine
your shine gleams,
beams reflected in my joyful tears
my own light is given
back to me in your eyes,
the gift of fire,
oh, generous....
the grandest gift of all, eternally.

This poem brought to mind the idea that the speaker has an ancient knowledge. There seems to be a transformation that has occured in the last stanza. Both the speaker and the other person in the poem now seem to be ethereal beings. Even with the line "like the moon after dark", the entire poem made me think of the moon. It really touched my heart.

Welcome Portia!!  This is certainly a poem that appeals to me, a bit of the mystical, inner enlightenment etc.  Great and powerful stuff

I'll tell you this...... No eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn.....
