LIFE Sometimes ten minutes can seem like forever Yet sometimes a day is not enough Like when you're waiting in anticipation Or when the sun sets on an old friend's visit Sometimes life seems full of joy and happiness Yet sometimes filled with pain and grief Like when in love you're on top of the world Or when rejection's slap turns you away Sometimes life can seem unfair Yet sometimes grace abounds Like when failure comes despite all your efforts Or when you soar to success on miracle's wings Sometimes you're in a 25-hour, 8-day hurry Yet sometimes you have all the time in the world Like when tests and deadlines mean you can't stop to see Or when a flower in bloom or a bird in song makes you want to sing and shout Sometimes no restful sleep will come Yet sometimes sublime peace reigns Like when you wake up all the time or you toss and turn Or when it seems as if angels guard your sleep Sometimes life brings out the best in one Yet sometimes seems to relish in disgracing you Like when you rush to offer help, rescue, advice Or when cowardice afforded, you close your eyes or turn your back Sometimes you think you'll never be happy Yet sometimes you've never been happier Like when your efforts at human warmth return unrequited Or when what you feel in you heart is mirrored by another "If someone had to ask me what the most beautiful is, I might say the mountain If someone had to ask me what the widest is, I might say the sea But if someone had to ask what hurts the most, I'd have to admit - ALONE If there was only someone who would hold me an eternity without asking why If there was only someone who could stare at the moon with me in the night If there was only someone who could share my fears with me and could teach me to appreciate the silence more" (An African Friend) Life is the hardest journey of all Discovering that you're on it alone is the hardest realisation of all Still continuing despite all of this is the most courageous act of all Success begins with your will You can decide your future And you have the power to do anything you want Use it wisely For you're never truly alone |
