Caustic Dreams

I saw death,
under the African sun,
and death was a child,
unborn.
A child that never saw the light of day,
one that never breathed on it's own,
one that never felt it's mother's love,
it's father's touch,
a hug,
a kiss,
or the glow of a smile.
I saw death,
and death reached out,
grasped my heart,
squeezed,
and squeezed some more,
until tears came to my eyes,
and I cried out in pain.
I saw death,
and death lay in a coffin,
pale,
plastered with make-up,
wearing a fancy dress,
and a rictus smile,
permanent and forever.
I saw death,
and it's form belied it's function.
Love died,
hate took it's place,
a family was torn asunder,
and two kids fell in the chasm it made.
I saw death,
and death looked me in the eye,
smiled,
and walked away,
leaving me lifeless,
empty,
torn,
broken,
alive,
unwanted,
even by death itself.

I've seen this also my friend, and it's not good.
the expression (Poem) is good, but not the subject matter.
And death has brush by me.
My heart to you ,
and welcome to Dark passions

Joel.

I howl a mournful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel.

I'm feeling a little caustic myself today
Wonderful emotional and visual work.
Welcome to passions my friend

If all was light...then I would have never learnt the dark...from which such truth evolves
from which evolves the light...

Thanks folks...been reading extensively in Passions...particularly the "DARK" side of the realm and this is the kinda place a person could call home.
...and soon, our paths will cross,
...and soon, our hearts will twine,
...and soon, so soon,
...our souls will bind.

See you...on the dark side.

Even thought the subject is not so beautiful,
the words you use are smooth and perfect in reflecting the pain and ugliness of death, this is to my stadards....a wonderful poem.

For any who may be interested, due to the origination of this piece (a program on NPR from a drought striken area of Africa and particularly an
ultra-skinny, pregnant, and dying African woman, I added the 2nd line to the poem, and changed the 24th line from "and the rictus of a smile" to "and a rictus smile"....as the 24th line was confusing and relatively incorrect.
