You think that you know me, what do you see?
I'll tell you right now, it's not really me.
I'm someone who hides here alone in the dark.
I'm anger I'm hatred, I'm everything stark.
You think that you know me, how does that feel?
You can't climb the wall here, it's big and it's real.
The bricks used to build it were formed from my pain.
Not love or a new life will break it again.
You can't touch my heart, I won't let you in.
This isn't a game, not something to win.
My heart is the key, the key to my soul.
The last one to have it, left it a hole.
So don't think you know me.
Don't even try.
I've buried my heart, so you won't see me cry.

Wow this poem really hit home with me. Excellent work here. I know all about that wall and the pain that builds it. I too have it and I am too scared to let someone break it down. It seems to protect me in so many ways.

Great poem! Heartbreak can cause us to put up walls, but I'd rather take my chances!

Hell I built a fortress around mine, buried it in a crypt, and froze it. She opened it with one kiss. Love is grand and one our soul dare not miss.
