Homeless

no spoken words
or moments of reflection
just silence
an empty house
with no echoes
of laughter
only bare rooms
without life
a cold and empty bed
sits on the floor
with sheets still folded
and a pillow without indention
not a home
just a place to stay
for now

Caught a chill reading this one, Gary.  This rings a very sad, lonely, almost hopeless overtone.  Very well written poem.

Thanks Michael. I did not mean for this to sound hopeless, just an observation of what I have right now as compared to what I have temporarily left behind.

A very sad feeling came over me while reading this one. Bleak.  Greatly Written though.

The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, not the kindly smile, not the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that someone believes in him and is willing to trust him with his friendship."

~My goodness,...this poem left me sitting with my chin in my hand just sort of staring at the screen blankly....I felt it...I've been there.

Thank you! I was trying to capture the feelings of coming home to an empty house after spending 5 days with people very close to me. My house felt so empty when I walked through the door.
