This lady drug up her last ounce of self respect
She looked in the mirror one day,  and began to circumspect
She knew all along what she had inside to give a man
But  no one would take the "real" gift from her outstretched hand
So she grabbed herself up by her boot straps,  and is a walkin
She won't look back now,  no matter who is a talkin
Her heart is going to get free from this pain she's felt so deep
She is gonna  cash in her cards, and get rid of the creep
She is gonna hold her head high and walk tall
And never let another take her down again to fall
This woman is riding with the wind to her back
And givin all who seek her, a royal heart attack!
She will look different when all is said and done
She is going to be the woman,  who has finally won!
For she finally believed in herself,  even though no one else would
She should of done this a long time ago, like she knew she could
So don't look for her gift of love  now, cause it ain't there
Don't even try to cast her a glance,  or a stare!
She won't be had again,  or let any lovers be
Cause she has been cast, into the cold stormy sea
Where all is forgotten of her dark and foreboding past
She is finally resting......THIS LADY is free at last!

Freedom is an Illusion, the real chains in life is to walk alone.
love the work kid.

I howl a mornful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel.

Uh, I prefer freedom that doesn't leave the lips so cold and clammy...  Just my sadistic senses of humor there, hope you don't mind.  In all seriousness, this was an excellent poem.  I have felt the helplessness and despair this poem seems to reflect so aptly.  Good job.

Wow Joel.....how true your statement is and eye opening!  Thanks for the insight and for commenting on the work.

And Michael.....well at times we all can feel the cold wind a blowin!!!!  I seem to understand and have your same sense of humor (which gets me in trouble I might add).
Thanks for commenting, I have enjoyed your poems so many times and they have really spoken to me.   I am kind of new here and really have not dipped too much into responding to others poems yet, sort of still lurking about how that is done here!

yes, she's free!!! She won't let her
gifts be soiled, she will ride on and
be the woman she knows she can be even
if no one else sees that lady.
God, this is fantastic........
these boots are made for walkin'
I loved it!
