SECOND SIGHT

The blood-red sun rolls across the sky,
Unseen by a most onlooking eye.
Which in credulous manner dares to stare
Into the fascinating, glowing glare.
But never really comes to see the light,
As tunnel vision slowly steals all sight.
While the warm lies of love and kindness,
Disappear into a world of blindness.

Where blood-wrenched hands rip at a soul
Which still abides a one word scroll.
As the endless sea of emptiness rises
Drowning credence it so despises.
Where emotions once thought missing
Are found coiled up in the corner, hissing.
And memories are laid upon the altar
As sacrifice for those who falter.

But let not a word of defamation flow
While undisturbed flowers lay row by row,
In the garden where loneliness reigns
And even sunshine somewhat refrains.
For they too are just gifts of the season,
Images in time, adrift - no reason.
Appreciated only by eyes we train
To view life through a tinted pane.

Still none will celebrate with me
What these scarred eyes have come to see.
And no one fully understands
The thorns set deep within my hands.
For no one's passion runs as deep,
Where hearts given are not to keep.
As sacred touches tend to stray,
And love's given to slow decay.

Michael Anderson

For all behind was dark and drear,
And all before was night and fear.
How many hours of night or day
In those suspended pangs I lay,
I could not tell; I scarcely knew
If this were human breath I drew.

Lord Byron

Micheal,
I only have one question.
Have you ever been published in print?
If so, where can I find it?

Great Post Michael

"As sacred touches tend to stray,
And love's given to slow decay"

Slow decay of love, what an vivid image that paints.

The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, not the kindly smile, not the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that someone believes in him and is willing to trust him with his friendship."

Forgive my audacity, Sir Michael, and the Lovely Devina---but...

'Tis tinted pane
hurtful refrain
not worthy, no,
to call Love's Shadow.
Reached out for you
to answer true-
You felt compelled--
simply HAD TO...

'Twas it but
a fevered dream
spent in love's demise?
An answer from
an honest man
never shall be labeled lies...
A vision quest.
The Shaman Smiles.
The rest is but
the serpent's wiles...
We cannot have
but what is given--
let's live today
among the living.

i have indeed been blinded...
by love and lies in the past.
but i pray for clarity...
and for my blindness not to last.
i have but one wish...to only realize,
i daily pray for the gift of understanding eyes.
to only see the gifts of love's healing view...
and then to pass these gifts on to you.

serenity...you are amazing...*cheek kiss*

 ...every moment of every day...
your still with me in every way.
every poem and song...
every rhyme and verse...
your still here...like a beautiful curse.

Jeffrey, I have not had a book published to date, working desperately to change that.  Hopefully this year.

dhuron, viidly portrayed... but sucks to experience!!! LOL

NamelessOne, you humble me.

serenity, I think I like your audacious side, no need to ask forgiveness for speaking your mind, dear.  Thank you for the beautiful poem.

Claire, alright huh? I see how you are.    Actually the title does come off as quite a pun, though I didn't really intend it that way at first.  Glad you enjoyed the read.

Irish Rose, Quite a compliment, My sincerest thanks to you.

Janet, I always love you poetic replies.  They help me to see the brighter side more often than not.  TY

Thank you all for the kind replies.

powerful! wonderful! definately suited for the dark side! hmmmmm.......what else? (desperately trying to think of adjectives not previously used in my replies...)
ahh, anyway, i loved the last stanza. i will not claim to understand fully, if at all, but i will say it sounds like you have had your heart and spirit broken as many times as i have, and in as many different ways. another magnificent piece. (now i know i've never used magnificant before   )
