Hello everyone.  This is my first post so, be gentle...

Letting Go

I like your warm smile;
I crave your fond touch,
And I love the way
You hate me so much.

The way your eyes sparkle;
Your sweet, sultry lips
Your harsh bitter words that
Sting me like hits

The way your arms hold me;
How you tell me those lies
Hollow words of "forever"
Tears flow from my eyes.

You brought me the pain,
The sadness and grief
I'd like to forget but
My skin its beneath

I know I should leave
But I won't get far
My body's been bound,
My heart ripped and marred.

Your grip over me,
Is like one of death.
'Cause you won't let go
Until my last breath.

Is there no way out?
My mind tells me no!
Bye bittersweet love,
This is me letting go.

 I was never one to patiently pick up broken fragments and glue them together again and tell myself that the mended whole was as good as new. What is broken is broken- and I'd rather remember it as it was at its best than mend it and see the broken places as long as I lived.

much that you refuse to
try new things. The
saddest summary of a
life contains three
descriptions:
could have,
might have,
and should have.

Welcome to Passions.  And very nice first post.  I have been there and I know that letting go isnt easy.  But once you get the nerve, life only gets better. As the saying goes, "Been there, done that and got the t-shirt!"

Well walking away is the hardest part, but the rewards are worth the pain that it reaps.

 There's a peace inside us all
Let it be your friend
It will help you carry on
In the end
There's a peace inside us all

Night Chica, I have broken many bones, in doing so I know they grow back stronger,
Like the breaking  of one’s heart, (mine) it has grown, I believe the key is flexibility
If you remain ridged in the head wind the oak tree breaks, when the willow flows
with the storm. Remain flexible kid, and grow.
Joel.

Night Chica~ Welcome! Oh..... I have to say excellent poem!! I felt this way with my ex-husband. Letting go was the best thing I ever did. ( he was ABUSIVE) The opening lines felt like they came from my heart. Love it!  - SEA

Welcome Night Chica, what a lovely first piece, and there is no need to be gentle, you've done fine.  A little secret, we are not harsh critics.

 A heart and soul are not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others...
