ETERNITY

The roses have bled, the demon rings true.
A dance in my head that chains me to you.
The jewel of my crown, your eyes are my sea
Rising till I drown within sweet memory.
By the depths of hell, by bliss become pain,
A cold prison cell, peace I can't explain.
The vision remains, come to bloodstained hands,
But the feeling wanes with no reprimands.

A painted black pane, window of my soul.
Can't hide the disdain of this gaping hole.
Yet won't let me see beyond this cold glass
Past the misery that holds me so crass.
So eyes closed in dream, I watch as she dies.
By a voiceless scream, floating to the skies,
Stood to vows broken, this Love I adore
Ever unspoken, she whispers of more!

Not lost to the stare of eyes unblinking,
Ever I'm aware, of all she's thinking.
Of regretted lies, by rictus of fear,
Holding her surprise to a frozen tear.
The wonder of lust with still jaded eyes,
Betraying my trust, Forever yet sighs.
Yet still I hang on by lies never said,
Eternity drawn, yet decries the dead.

Michael Anderson

For all behind was dark and drear,
And all before was night and fear.
How many hours of night or day
In those suspended pangs I lay,
I could not tell; I scarcely knew
If this were human breath I drew.

Lord Byron

I love your expression of pain Michael...
This one again so beautiful...

If all was light...then I would have never learnt the dark...from which such truth evolves
from which evolves the light...

Yet still I hang on by lies she once said,

Beautiful poem! Loved the last stanza and especially this part. Exellent written. You're an inspiration to us all.

I bleed my feelings on a white sheet
I color the blank page red
It leaves me blodless
Pallid and stale
While the crimson pain thunder in my head

Awesome poem, michael.  I think I know how you feel... as much as someone else can.  Great work.

Michael, you are one of the most brilliant poets that I have ever read.  I leave for a couple of weeks, and come right back to tasting your every word.
I absolutely loved this poem.  Some day, I will buy your book.

Just follow your own way
Don't give up and use the chance
To return to innocence.

This poem was wonderful! Such depth and emotion were portrayed by your words.  The descriptions, the metaphors, everything in this poem shows the talent you possess.

AVANTI,  I am so glad you liked this piece - did you read the hidden poems within?  I would like to know what you thought if you did.

Broken, I doubt I should be inspiring anyone here...LOL  But I am very glad you like the poem.

Hope, tears, and renewal, I am only saddened to know you know how this feels - but I must say, I love your screen name.  It, in itself, gives me hope.

danni,  LOL at modest... thank you

sonjes, when I get a book published, I promise you won't have to buy your copy...

SEA, good to see you again, I have missed you much.

Thank you all for the kind replies.

Michael

Excellent Poem, Michael!  Like my friend Hope, I, too, know of the pain you have felt.  Good job!
