The Demon's of the Night......

When night closes in and there's no-one to care
Just remember this I will always be there
Maybe not in person, word or deed
But there in spirit to fulfil every need
The night's are the worst when your heart is in pain
The hours slowly pass and the mind goes insane
Times gone past and spent with such glee
Are the times you remember at quarter to three
The way that they made you feel and more
Is what you remember at twenty to four
The chance to be free and again feel alive
Is what fills your head at quarter past five
The longing the waiting an emotional mix
But it enters your brain at twenty past six
You slowly unwind and dream you're in heaven
Then you wake with a start, its half past seven
Its easy to believe that the past is just fate
But its not quite so easy at quarter to eight
Well another night over, no longer to pine
Have to get up its twenty to nine
The day will go quickly until night falls anew
Then back to my bed and my dreaming of you
This spooky demon that fills me with dread
Comes calling at night when I'm alone in my bed
He wants me to see what I had and then lost
To review all the past and then count all the cost
The demon in question they just call him 'pain'
I hope that he never comes near ME again!

Oh I wish He never comes near me again either.  A great work, describes exactly one night I had not too long ago.

The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, not the kindly smile, not the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that someone believes in him and is willing to trust him with his friendship."

This is a great piece of art. I really loved how you told the reader the exact time of the different feelings that the speaker felt something. This is one of the best poems that I have read in a long time and I am happy that I read yours. Judging you by what I just read, you are a great poet and I love your insight to depression. Sadness can make us feel all sorts of different feelings, but when thought about, pain and sorrow are just feelings like being happy. The way you think about this will reflect how you feel when pain enters your life. For this demon will or have visited us all and will come back again many more times before death.

Wonderful work!!    We all have our demons from time to time, don't feed them with fear or pain for they stay longer then...

There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that's your own self...
