THE GARDEN

I went walking in the garden
Where roses never bleed.
Where emotion doesn't harden,
Where it's not sin to need.
Where always the stars shine at night,
Where sun warms you by day.
Where when your lost there is a light
To guide you on your way,

‘Twas there with shadow stalking me,
I steepened up the pace.
By the eyes of Night gawking me
My heart began to race.
‘Twas there black demons claimed the sky,
A billion wishes lost.
Hope cast on a curtain of lie,
Despondency the cost.

And I felt the harsh wind blowing,
Bitter cold upon my lips.
Still, continued on not knowing
By frostbit fingertips...
All feeling was escaping me
By drone of frozen breath.
Alas, blackness was draping me
In robes of living death.

Eyes adjusting to meet the call
By night become my day.
Sweet Silence led me to the fall
Of childhood dream in play.
A little boy staring up blind,
A mesmerizing sun.
A world of choice fallen behind
The fruition of one.

Lost to Darkness, shining all day
By vacant stares of Night.
My midnight sun draws me away
In sterile dreams of flight.
A statue, stood next the garden,
Of shadow-pitched poses.
Marbled tears begging the pardon
Of Life's bleeding roses.

Michael Anderson

For all behind was dark and drear,
And all before was night and fear.
How many hours of night or day
In those suspended pangs I lay,
I could not tell; I scarcely knew
If this were human breath I drew.

Lord Byron

As always wonderous emotion and imagery Michael, I am soooooooo jealous of you and your mastery..

it's always wonderful to read you ...
i've still to read someone who verses pain as beautifully as you...i'am still...as always...at the end of this one...too
it comes from within...the soul...where so much resides...only you seem to reach it...
you are a marvel...

Simply stunning, Michael...sensual but spooky at the same time...and (may I say?)
INCREDIBLE.
