I live in a prison without stone or iron bars
but of guilt and sorrow
I feel that I have wronged someone
whom I care more than life itself
I tell her that I care for her
and that she is my friend
but somewhere inside of me
fears that my love for her
will be my downfall
her heart lies with another
their love has faded utmost certainty
but she is afraid to face her lover
and speak that bitter truth
I give advice to her
as any friend would do to help
but I feel that I have hurt her
by trying to help her do something
that even in the darkest depths of my soul
I could never do
to have what's left of her love
torn assunder with help from me
to know, that someone I care about
someone who I love most dearly
that I may have ruined something
that she may still believe is there
to see my being, my loving nature
torn apart with deadly presision
but I still ask myself what is worse
to love someone who doesn't care for you
or to lose that love that you cherish most

To find true love is to know true happiness... to lose true love is to lose everything
