You carried me for many days,
To the great Volcano Island,
A virgin of the emotions sacrifice,
Lord help me I'm so frightened.

Neolithic these sacrificial rites,
Straight out of a page from history,
When nothing feels right,
Is this what you plan to do to me?

You lead me up the mountain,
Other villagers then partake in the ceremony,
Bathing me, cleansing me, comforting me,
Readying me for the final journey.

Is that all I have become to you?
A sacrifice for the Almighty Fire Gods?
Didn't you see what you were doing to me?
Now it's too late this craving to be understood.

I've thought about it long and hard,
Perhaps this death is better,
From a lamb I've evolved into the lioness,
I'll go out with a roar oh destroyer..

They led me up the mountainside,
No fear now in my heart,
Instead I welcome this hero's death,
No more can you tear me apart.

As the ancient indians say,
'It was a good death.'
No more suffering, no more pain,
As I sink into the lava's depths..

There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that's your own self...

Isis,

Great work. You are an excellent writer:

I've thought about it long and hard,
Perhaps this death is better,
From a lamb I've evolved into the lioness,
I'll go out with a roar oh destroyer..

They led me up the mountainside,
No fear now in my heart,
Instead I welcome this hero's death,
No more can you tear me apart.

As the ancient indians say,
'It was a good death.'
No more suffering, no more pain,
As I sink into the lava's depths..

I love these lines...changing from being scared to accepting your fate head on!

Isis...all I can say is...wow. I love this poem for it's beauty, it's depth, and how I relate to it. Truly excellent piece here.

filling my head

and dread

Excellent Isis. . .
