The mind slowely dims
behind the once bright eyes
All that was drains away
all that was once seen
slips into the void soudlessly

The soul which held the truths
All that the world was to be
all that the world had ever been
was degradeing in the bright light of day
failing with the passage of time

How it will be missed the brightness
All the hope and dreams he brought
Every idea and view of heaven lost
how the world mourns his greatness
As the last of what he has known in him dies

How cruel of life to take it
What was the gift if it cannot live
merely a haunting echo of greatness
Lost now in the sandstorm of time
Beyond the eyes of even the one

Do we cry for him in his loss
Do we cry for we in our loss
Do we laugh at greatness fallen
who are we to decide in the second
And who are we to see the world

Did you write the Book of Love
And do you have faith in God above
If the Bible tells you so
Do you believe in rock 'n roll
Can music save your mortal soul
And can you teach me how to dance real slow

dear walter...how  i love your ponderings in the dark...you do it with such grace...

"How it will be missed the brightness
All the hope and dreams he brought
Every idea and view of heaven lost
how the world mourns his greatness
As the last of what he has known in him dies"

this stanza is awesome!!
even in the dark...your words shine.
take care, jm

 and you can say baby...
baby can I hold you tonight
maybe if told you the right words...
at the right time,
you'd be mine...
baby can I hold you tonight...

Walter,

This is wonderful!

The soul which held the truths
All that the world was to be
all that the world had ever been
was degradeing in the bright light of day
failing with the passage of time

those lines speak oh so many truths...so oh so many...

Walter I too love your ponderings, trains of thoughts etc.  I'd love to get inside your head!!    Quite a journey and depth there and depth of character I believe.  As always your work is deep, thoughtful and interesting.
Always a must read!! Bravo my friend
