A baird he courted me,
Four months and better,
He surely won my heart,
I treasure all his letters.

With quill in hand,
He looked so clever,
And when I was with my love,
I could live for ever.

But where has my love gone?
With his cheeks all etched and ruddy?
His scrolls always safe at his side,
Lest they get dirty or muddy.

I'm afraid the scorching sun,
Will shine and hurt his beauty,
And if I was again with my love,
I'd lovingly do my duty.

Strange news has come to town,
Strange news on the wind is carried,
Strange news everywhere,
That my love is now married.

I wish them both much joy,
Though they'll never hear me,
And may God reward him well
For his slighting of me.

Don't you remember when
You lay beside me?
And you promised to marry me,
And never deny me?

Our love will bear witness love,
And I'll never deny thee,
Save God Almighty,
My lips grew pale and free.

It made my poor heart tremble,
To think I loved such a one,
And as always he too proved deceitful.

AN ADAPTION FROM AN OLD TRADITIONAL IRISH SONG..

May the world hug you today,
With it's warmth and love.
I pray it whispers a joyful tune in your heart,
That tell you there is a friend sitting in another corner of the world,
Wishing you well and
wishing you love......

Isis... this is quite sad... what's the name of the song. . .

And I wonder if he really ever broke his promise to her... how could he forget one so beautfiul and so warm?

An olde Irish ditty entitled 'Blacksmith', I just changed everything to suit a baird.
Glad you all liked it.
Creature, I don't think he'd have forgotten her either, most bairds were highly sensitive and caring types, goes with the territory and all that..
Sven, "Blacksmith" is the song title.
Thanks also Broken Wings and Jannel

May the world hug you today,
With it's warmth and love.
I pray it whispers a joyful tune in your heart,
That tell you there is a friend sitting in another corner of the world,
Wishing you well and
wishing you love......
