~SHE~

She cries late at night...so no one else hears,
though she's always grateful ... for the company of her own tears.

There is so much of her no one else has tasted...
so much kept locked inside ... she knows so much of her has been wasted.

She aches for the things she's lost...so much taken away,
so many lies, the worn and tired alibis...love just wouldn't stay.

She asks for so little...only to die with no regrets...
but then first she would have to know contentment...
that hasn't happened yet.

Eyes filled with tears...cant see into the future,
but its just got to be better...of this she is sure.

There is nothing in her present to make love last...
and then there are those shadows...
always knowing she is owned by her past.

She knows she is the only one who can truly set her free...
but the ties that bind now chain her, denying sweet destiny.

So she cries late at night, drowning in her tears...
and she pretends not to notice...the passing of her best years.

Janet Marie

Now for me some words come easy
But I know that they don't mean that much
Compared with the things that are said when lovers touch
You never knew what I loved in you
I don't know what you loved in me
Maybe the picture of somebody you were hoping I might be

This heart wrenching JM...so much sadness in these words. Beautifully written, but the sorrow in this piece haunts me. Bravo!

Janet...

Our writing styles differ so much, however I still can feel a part of myself in your poetry. This piece was so well expressed, and the emotion powerfully described. I sit in awe of your work! You continue to make me strive to be a better poet. Thank you, and also thank you for your loving comments to my work. You make me SMILE!

Very nice and very sad.  Your words sure express the emotion in this piece.  The last line said it all.
Well done!

I`m not a girl, but your poem describes perfectly how I feel tonight. I write this as the tears burn my eyes red. It`s just been one of those days you know. I find comfort in you, thanks.

So much emotion, saddness, regret. We have all felt this way.  Wonderful depictions Janet Marie *hugs*

May the world hug you today,
With it's warmth and love.
I pray it whispers a joyful tune in your heart,
That tell you there is a friend sitting in another corner of the world,
Wishing you well and
wishing you love......

So powerful and heartwrenching for sure.....

This brought back many not so distant memories of hiding the tears in the shower's waterfall....

Incredibly raw emotion here!

Marie it is sad when so many years of disappointment and hurt can waste our years away.  The healing takes so long but thank God if there is a beginning point and we can learn to trust and laugh and truly live life as it should be lived...embracing friendships and love.   James

I want to say a very heartfelt thank you to EACH one you who replied to this poem...I was so moved each time I came here and saw yet another encouraging compliment. For me it is my greatest pleasure and compliment to have another poet tell me that they were moved or related to my words. You all inspire me.
thanks for allowing my "emotional outbursts"
to inspire you
humbled by you words...
take care,janet marie

 and you can say baby...
baby can I hold you tonight
maybe if told you the right words...
at the right time,
you'd be mine...
baby can I hold you tonight...

I wanted to see what D.P. was like and when I read this......I knew in a heartbeat.  This took my breath away J.M.  and I'm sure you know why.  The tears streaming down my face right now for once are not for me but for the understanding that I'm not as alone as I have always thought.  This is an amazing piece, I think that I may be to afraid to tap into feelings this deep but can relate to your words as if they were my own.
*AWHs* because you above all know they are the ones that ask nothing in return.

This poem reminds me so much how important it is to live in the moment and not be "owned by the past"  or wait for what will come in the future.  Who knows what will be?  This pulled on my heart strings too.
