The thunder burns loud,
lost inside my ears
My body with the chill of quakes,
swallowing up my tears

Fumbling along the cobblestone,
I had fallen before the door
Stranded without the key,
I'm left out in the downpour

Once again I feel that I'm falling
but I reach out for some stability,
In all the hopelessness of this place,
my passion becomes my only artillary

So sweet was this temporary bliss
but now it's time to let it go
and before I walk away forever,
there's something I wanted you to know...

I'm so very sorry that I hurt you
and that I wasn't all you had planned,
But please remember that I love you
and I hope that you understand

And it's time for me to go now,
Back to where I belong
Believe me it's for the better,
for me to stay would be wrong

You deserve so much more
than I could ever give
'cause a life of darkness,
is the life that I live

"The dark weight of the hour
humming madly
filling my head
with blood
and sorrow
and dread
the executioner's song."

You moved me again and spoke my feelings.
Dark and beautiful, low and slow. Keep it up, don`t leave me now.

D.E.
I loved this poem...it aches with emotion and loves sacrifice...superb rhyme flow...very well written.
take care, jm

Now for me some words come easy
But I know that they don't mean that much
Compared with the things that are said when lovers touch
You never knew what I loved in you
I don't know what you loved in me
Maybe the picture of somebody you were hoping I might be

wow,  this one hits home.  really close to home.  this sounds almost exactly what i went threw with my girl.  me and her are back together now but that goodbye was hell.  i fell at her feet in tears.  she cuddled me and told me it would be ok and that she loved me.  thats when i lost it.  like i said we are back together now.  but it was hell.  great poem.  i can feel what you have gone threw....

Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel is just a frieght train coming your way...

Thank you, thank you, thank you so much! I really appreciate the replies.   Jesse I'm glad to hear that your back with her...you and I both know it's not easy at all. It can almost become a habit...a horrible story told over and over...I'm trying to find my way out though. I just don't want to step on anyway in the process. Thanks again.

              Yours truly,
                 Angel

So sweet was this temporary bliss
but now it's time to let it go
and before I walk away forever,
there's something I wanted you to know...

*wonders: how does she get inside my head* I loved it. Superbly done, yet again. You have quite the ability to bring a story from it's beginning to it's ending... the way you paint a flowing picture in my mind's eye is amazing.

I loved the ending as well.
