Can’t stand to look at myself anymore Don’t know what this thing I have is for It might go off in my hand It might just go kill another man Face down dead on the floor My heart beats like a lonely voice My head is filled with noise I hear the laughter of some far off place Within my mind, a saving grace Killed by my own choice These are the hardest tears The ones that cause all the fears These are the saddest years I feel uncertain, which way to go I can’t let these feelings show Don’t want to raise that alarm Or bring you any harm But only I really know It’s not as easy as it used to be To escape this nightmare reality Feel my hidden hunger Because I won’t be getting younger I will cease to be; me These are the hardest tears The ones you caused, but cannot hear These are the saddest years Happy faces and Bright shiny places Don’t seem to illuminate Only humiliate In all these cases So much, so little, so late To change our fate This now stands clear Your voice falls on deaf ears Love is so much like hate These are the hardest tears The ones that come when you are near These are the saddest years |
