VISIONS

Visions often float through my head
In faded glimpses of the dead.
Through warped realms of reality,
And ageless eyes that cannot see.

Spirits singing so soft and low
As through my soul the echoes flow,
In words I cannot understand
Or catch by wrinkled, rotting hand;

Or fathom with a thoughtless mind
Slipping through a semi-conscious blind.
And so the sweet sung verses fade
Unto a melancholy charade.

Where emotion dons chains of a slave.
Where a bottle slowly becomes a grave.
Where God's given light to thee and thine
No longer remembers to shine.

Where Darkness remains, not by choice.
Emptiness, it seems, has just one voice.
Yet even that seems to be running
Into the pitiless sea of nothing.

Where the visions cease to appear.
Where every second seems to last a year.
But I finally understand what the spirits said,
"Why watch the living through eyes of the dead?"

This is my kind of poem darkness with a sense of style a song plays to the words you say and so the darkness will rise
Yet no sight is in the old eyes only the darkness of the soul as it cries and the heart as without love it slowley dies

My kind of poem yes it is liked it lots

Did you write the Book of Love
And do you have faith in God above
If the Bible tells you so
Do you believe in rock 'n roll
Can music save your mortal soul
And can you teach me how to dance real slow

Devinmaria, glad you liked it.

Walter, it's a slow death, indeed.

Little deaths, spiritual and darkness, great combination for a great read as usual Michael

May the world hug you today,
With it's warmth and love.
I pray it whispers a joyful tune in your heart,
That tell you there is a friend sitting in another corner of the world,
Wishing you well and
wishing you love......

M, you retain your crown, thy Lord of Darkness...with this poem...I had to work to "find the light" in this one...the last line shines...
excellent work .jm

When you see through love's illusions, there lies the danger...
And your perfect lover just looks like a perfect fool
So you go running off in search of a perfect stranger
While the loneliness seems to spring from your life
Like a fountain from a pool.

I'm going to echo Ruth, Michael ...
Your work, no matter what the subject matter, is always first class .... this, of course, is no exception ..

A soul that writes from the heart and shares it, truly gives a gift extraordinaire!

I absolutely loved this  poem !!! It's thought provoking to say the least... how many times have  we  been silent observers to life letting it pass us  by when we  could be participating......
