I am now aware,
Of what I need in my days and nights,
Yet still I cannot find it,
I'm still not doing it right.

On the outside I paste a brave front,
On the inside I cringe and fear,
Little mistakes are magnified,
I sometimes cry a lonely tear.

Every little mistake,
Goes down in history,
Bad things to be remembered,
Shall surface again, you'll see.

I worry for my son,
He's already known heartache,
Perhaps that is why he struggles,
Those bonds he tries to break.

I try with every ounce of myself,
To make his home a sanctuary,
He's old enough to remember now,
It'll haunt you, just wait and see.

Watch what you say,
How it can be perceived,
You stand face to face with reality,
And he needs to be relieved.

It doesn't take much,
Time and some careful thought,
Five minutes here and there,
Do it as you ought.

If not for me then for our son,
His heart it sometimes cries,
And I'm so scared we'll make one mistake to many,
And eventually he'll say his goodbyes.

He is my life and soul,
The true love of my heart,
I cannot bear to lose him,
From some indiscretion on our part.

May the world hug you today,
With it's warmth and love.
I pray it whispers a joyful tune in your heart,
That tell you there is a friend sitting in another corner of the world,
Wishing you well and
wishing you love......

Isis this one is SO beautiful and emotionally RICH with your love and sweetness. how tender this is...it is very hard raising  our children in these times...you voiced your fears and insecurities so gracefully in this. very well done!!

Now for me some words come easy
But I know that they don't mean that much
Compared with the things that are said when lovers touch
You never knew what I loved in you
I don't know what you loved in me
Maybe the picture of somebody you were hoping I might be...

Isis...

Who says you're not doing it right?  I think that you are. .. it's just not come to you yet. .. it will soon my friend. . .

Thanks JM and Sven, no no-one has said I'm doing it wrong, but you wonder...  wonder what things will remain in his memory, things said in anger could do more harm than we realise.  Just wondering..
Thanks for reading

Isis~ this was wonderful. As a Mom, I share your worries. It's so hard to know in the present what will affect our childrens' future. I call my parents a lot and tell them how great they did, and apologise for all the stupid things I did! Again, this is wonderful. -SEA

As a single mother myself, I can relate....I think just the fact that you are concerned about it shows that it will be alright....the ones who should worry are the ones who don't realize they should...Take Care

This was beautiful Isis. A great message too. I'm not a mother but as someone that is still very young and yet not, I can relate to your poem. And just as Sheilan said...the only ones that need to worry are the ones that don't realize they should. Believe me, your doing just fine.

Isis,
We mothers all have doubts.  Love for our children is so deep, so strong, that we can barely breathe.  My sons are now going through the pain of losing their dad to divorce.  I wonder what effect this will have on their ability to be good fathers, husbands ?  All we can do is try our best....Thanks for writing this.  Jocelyn
