I sit and reminisce
Over things I miss
While wintry snow falls
Outside these familiar walls
The fire casts its comfortable light
Providing sanctuary from the night
With loneliness my old friend
Haunting me here again
In deepest thought
Rapture in which I’m caught
I hear an ethereal sound
From my thoughts I turn around
Pausing to listen intently so
There’s silence, and only falling snow
As soft as it came, it has gone
Back to brood, continuing on
Outside, coldness still descends
As in me, never ends
Darkness seems only to magnify
These memories that never lie
Again, that quiet rap
A knocking, a delicate tap
My curtain un-drawn
Facing the icy lawn
Steady, slowly I walk
To myself nervously I talk
Hand rests uneasy on the drape
From this horror, to escape
I feel age in my limbs
My consciousness also dims
Pausing, maybe it has gone
Silence goes on too long
Suddenly the knock comes again
I tear down the curtain;
To behold
A sight, an eerie sight
It is me as a child
I could have smiled,
But the happy countenance leaves
Leaving for me to perceive
Myself
As I am now
Wondering how
This pitiful, broken shell
Looking as if cast from hell
Could possibly be…
Me

man...this one is amazing...had to read it 3 times...so excellently written both emotionally and imagery wise.
very deep my friend and very good.

You're going to hear my voice in the morning calling your name
And know my love and my desperation were one and the same...
Baby it's alright...
Take this pain and all this sadness
It's alright
Take this rain
You're going to be free...

Thanks my JM...this as you can tell was at the height of my POE inspiration...not that it ever has left. I just hope it doesn't look too much like his work. I definitely added my twisted mentality to it.

Thanks aimee. I hope it has a lot more of me in it than Poe.

Great self realisation and discoveries well done

May the world hug you today,
With it's warmth and love.
I pray it whispers a joyful tune in your heart,
That tell you there is a friend sitting in another corner of the world,
Wishing you well and
wishing you love......
