GRACELESS REMEDY

I work each day till I am numb,
Till to dark silence I succumb.
But there you are, even in dream
To rob me of my self-esteem.
I could reach heights unknown to man.
Would much rather be doing that than
Sitting here alone, dwelling on you.
But what more would you have me do?

I still see eyes that turn from me.
Hear velvet lies spoke easily
Within the ancient scrolls of rhyme
That haunt me now - will for all time.
As weary Love is wrenched away,
Forever sold out on a day
Of carnal desire's well laid trap.
Reality branded with a slap.

To kiss a lover's cheek, still bruised,
My dearest friend I stand confused;
For is not friendship based on trust
And not on dreams sifted like dust?
Don't need answers, I need a cure!
How much of this can one endure?
I drink each night until I drop
And still the dreams - they never stop!

I live by night, I sleep by day,
But still hear words you never say.
Words ringing like a phonograph
Skipping on a sarcastic laugh.
Running a cold chill up my spine
In awe of love - pristine, divine.
All the things I could never be,
Hope still dangles in front of me.

A vision catered to the tragic
The trickery of mystic magic.
In letting go of all I love,
What's left to be thinking of?
Still I wouldn't care what you thought of me,
If they'd just perform the lobotomy.
Of all the graceless remedies,
But one will work, scalpel please!

this one keeps me in my constant state of AWE -- of you. I love the poems emotions and the "dark" humor at the end...sarcasticly poetic.
thank you, for all you words of encouragement of my work in here...it means a lot to me....knowing you both relate and understand. take care, janet marie

Michael even though you are so sad, it is nice to see a little sense of humour at the end. *HUGS*

May the world hug you today,
With it's warmth and love.
I pray it whispers a joyful tune in your heart,
That tell you there is a friend sitting in another corner of the world,
Wishing you well and
wishing you love......

This is excellent Michael....you've done a wonderful job here. It would be nice if it were just as simple as having a minor operation to forget the pain, but unfortunately...

you don't have to understand completely..to love completely...

~Michael

No words I could say would do this piece of work justice! So I will simply say this not only touched my heart and soul, but my mind as well. Thank you! You write with such sadness and longing. Always know you are in my thoughts and prayers...

"the lord doesn't give us to large of a load for us to bare" I don't know if I really believe that quote, however I do hope things get better for you!

In awe of you
respectfully yours,
