As the Warner's began their life,
Another ship set sail,
This one full of convicts,
Never allowed on deck or to view over the rail.

There was a young man,
Given a seven year sentence,
He was framed so the legend goes,
But he had no witnesses or defence.

Edward Perrin Tulk was his name,
A sweet and funny guy,
Sentenced to God knows what in Australia,
Even this punishment couldn't stop the twinkle in his eye.

He served his term easily,
He caused no trouble and was good,
He finally earned his ticket of leave,
He did local odd jobs, anything he could.

He chose to stay in Australia,
And become a dairy farmer,
A free man working towards a brighter future,
Until fate intervened and he met the young Esther Warner.

The fell in love so the story goes,
Even Esther's father liked Edward,
In 7 years he'd changed his way of thinking,
And knew this fellow once convict, had turned good.

They were married in Olde Sydney town,
Such a happy day,
Edward had saved all his money,
Their future to move away.

Away from the bad memories of Sydney,
They'd find their own new land,
With lovely green pastures,
A place caressed by God's hand.

Stay tuned for Part 3

May the world hug you today,
With it's warmth and love.
I pray it whispers a joyful tune in your heart,
That tell you there is a friend sitting in another corner of the world,
Wishing you well and
wishing you love......

Very informative and interesting Isis.  That is a wonderful gift you have to present history as poetry.   James
