Struggling to breath
she gasps with all her might
to an average person
she's not a pretty sight

The doctors told her
that her time was drawing near
she remained emotionless
as if there was nothing to fear

She accepted her fate-
there was nothing more she could do
The doctors heard her sigh
as she let her last breath through

Smoking has done
all it can do to her
now that she's resting peacefully
her emphazima is finally cured.

***I LOVE YOU GRANDMA!!!***

"Falling in love is just that - falling.
Sometimes you merely trip and stub your toe.
Sometimes you fall to your hands and knees.
But sometimes you smack your head against the pavement and die."

this is a sweet and love filled tribute to your grandmother... I'm sorry for your loss...I understand how you feel... we lost ours to the very same illness 4 years ago... there is few things more precious than a grandmothers love or the memories we keep of them...take care, janet marie

 I love you
Is all that you can't say-
Years gone by and still...
Words don't come easily
Like I love you, I love you...
But you can say baby...
Baby can I hold you tonight
Maybe if I told you the right words
At the right time you'd be mine...

simple yet powerful. i know how you feel -- been there, with ya.  i hope peace comes for you but grieving is a wondrous thing.  i empathize and hope her spirit remains with you always.

Oh Ash hon, please accept my sympathies.  So sorry to read of your Grandma's passing, at least, she is at peace now.
(HUGS) my little sis, and if you need to talk you know where I am.

May the world hug you today,
With it's warmth and love.
I pray it whispers a joyful tune in your heart,
That tell you there is a friend sitting in another corner of the world,
Wishing you well and
wishing you love......

I am sorry for your loss. Grandmothers are special people. As to the reason to her death, smoking is so addictive, it is a hard habbit to beat especially when it has been a lifetime habbit. I posted a poem called Breathless I wrote about Tobacco because I have seen so many loved ones damaged so serverly from the effects of tobacco. I wish all could kick the habit before, their loved ones have to say Good bye, too soon.   Writing is a good way to deal with grief, hope to see more of your writings.
