I must admit I swiped the title from a song by Jaques Brel. If you've never heard any of his work, check it out. He would have felt at home in this forum.

-The Desperate Ones-

Searching the land
They reach for a hand
To hold throughout the night
Don't tell them 'No'
They won't let go
Until they see some light
And they have had
The good and the bad
But nothing seemed to last
And they have lied
And they have cried
Throughout their shadowed past
And if you see
Them holding me
You'll see that I am crying
Don't send them away
It's just my way
To keep my soul from dying

"The mass of men live their lives in quiet desperation".  A quote I thought of while reading your poem.
Your poem has a lot of feeling. Well done!

...found your heart-then lost your lover...licked your wounds then run for cover...
take your time...there will be another...
and dont make the same mistake twice...
unless you can pay the price...

Good poem!  I know it touched me.

Without darkness there is no light
Without the light we cannot see the dark
Balance...It heals the soul -- by: LB

Touching piece, I'm sure Jacques would be honoured with it

Let your heart guide you. It whispers, so listen closely.

Thank you all for your welcoming words and encouragement. I don't have very regular net access so you may not hear from me for awhile but I WILL be back!
