Last Night

Last night I had a dream,
It started like any other dream,
Peaceful and quite...

I was there
And so were you,
We were at the beach
And you were in a too too,

You danced while I watched,
You were so great,
You danced for an hour
And then took a break,

You sat down beside me
And a basket appeared,
I didn't think about it
'Cause in a dream nothing's wierd!

We started to eat,
It was very good,
But then the tide started to rise
And I knew there soon would be a flood,

It started to rain,
It rained oh so hard,
But all we could do
Was head for the car,

You ran so fast
With me bringing up the rear,
We both dashed to the car
With hearts racing and fear,

I started the car
But the engine went out,
A gigantic wave come toward us
And we were tossed about,

The car disappeared
And you along with it,
I wished you were there,
Oh how I wished it,

Another wave came,
It was coming my way,
All I could to was swim there,
And wait,

The wave came toward me,
It got bigger than the last,
I closed my eyes
And my past flashed fast,

The wave hit me hard,
And as soon as I surfaced,
I looked around
And asked God "What's the purpose?

Just then
Lightning flashed,
The waves got worse,
And Thunder crashed,

My heart was pounding,
I was in a state of shock,
I wished very hard
That I could trun back the clock,

I awoke the next day
bright and early to find,
It was all a dream,
It was all a waste of time,

Hmm....very interesting.  Thought provoking...dreams can be very weird, but all of them have a purpose, just like the one you explained in this poem. I like it.  DayDreamer

I like this one a lot Bronx. Dreams can be really weird, they also can be your best friend. Most of all a way to escape.

'Cause in a dream nothing's wierd! - Great line.  I often try to write every detail of a dream if I can remember them when I wake up...but I think mine are wierd, even stil...LOL  Really enjoyed this poem, but a dream is never a waste of time, me thinks.

Something has to change. An undeniable dilemma. But I am not a burden anyone should bear.

Dreams are oh so strange, but you are right, when it is ony a dream, it can't be wierd.

Bronx,
very good poem...makes sense of something that doesnt always make sense...
I like the last line, how you ended it with that thought. great job.janet marie

Bronx--
I'm kinda late on writing a reply. It's the second time I read your poem and I still love it. Dreams, no matter how weird, are an escape to me. But then, maybe they're an escape because they're weird...who knows? I do not, for I am not wise in that forte, ask my dear friend, DayDreamer.
