Living in modern times,
the innocence of children fades fast.
The arrogance of adolescence
soon settles in.
Next, the cynicism of adulthood
replaces that arrogance.

In this world,
this reality,
torture runs rampant.
Sorrow is a feeling
everyone knows.
Happiness is rare,
and people use others
every day.

What kind of world do we live in?
It is a horrible mes...

Uh huh!-
Sometimes it can seem like a horrible mess.  Sometimes I feel like my life is torture.  Or some kind of punishment for a former life!  but I doubt it!
Poetically yours

I agree with Bronx...I feel the same way sometimes.

Venus maybe a good title for this poem would be uh...let me see....how about "a horrible mes".  I'm sorry Venus I know you didn't ask. There are some good things happening too, right?  Or is life all bad?  Sometimes it seems that way to me, but not most of the time, and certainly not all the time.  James

The most bothersome thing to me is that "the innocence of children fades fast".  We can not longer protect them because we cannot control the world (environment) that they are in contact with each day when not in our presence.
Your right, it is a horrible mes, but we overcome by trying to be the best we can be, and letting our children see us trying.
Good expression in this piece.
Danny
