This is the second of two poems based on the challenge given to me by Marilyn.  The first, happier version is in OP#5.

----------------------------------------------------

In the twilight, loves' last blooming flower
Struggles to grow in the cold, hard ground
The last in its line, once part of a field of flowers
It now tries to shine in a place where pain is the only sound.

Once this field bloomed with the flowers of love
They ran through it hand in hand and made love under the shade of that tree
Once above this field trilled the song of the dove
They thought they had all they needed to set their souls free.

Now, a cold wind flows across the barren plain
The leaves of the tree now fallen and in decay
This field of love, now become a field of pain
Will never again feed the flowers as it did in those days.

In the twilight, loves' last blooming flower dies.
Its petals falling to the ground like dust
No one around to hear the Tinmans' cries
His heart now hardened, and sealed by rust.
----------------------------------------------------
In case you're wondering. . . I wrote this one first.

That which gives light must endure burning

Sven,
this is beautiful, sweet and sad, but expressed with emotion and imagery...I love it. Take care, janet marie

Some things cannot be explained by verses that rhyme,
They are not measured by the commitment of time.
Some emotions run too deep to be described by words,
Forgiveness and understanding-
remain the most beautiful words ever heard.

Boy I can relate Sven!!    Both versions are wonderful as always

Let your heart guide you. It whispers, so listen closely.
