Night Light
Please mommy, leave the light on
Don't want the darkness to come
Can you sing the lullaby song?
So I won't be afraid and run
What is that screaming at night?
You and daddy yelling
Is that how grown-ups fight?
Please stop the screaming
I want to go to sleep
Without hearing your conflict
One time I took a peek
Of the fighting, can't forget it
Why were you on the floor
The night I wanted some food
You said you're ok, are you sure?
Why was daddy being so rude?
You're face is so red
And it dosen't look nice
What are the things daddy said
When you were cooking the rice
Now I have nightmares mommy, not dreams
Keep the night light on
The fighting never stops it seems
Mommy, where are you to sing the song?

We have multiplies our possessions, but reduced our values. We've learned how to make a living, but not a life."

This is so sad. Children should be surrounded with love instead of anger hate and fights. Well done !

auricom: frighteningly beautiful, and all too sadly true... i really like this poem, it's as though you pulled the emotions from the child's heart and spilleds them onto the page...

sincerely,
jerome the boy with the blue thumb

A savage place! as holy and enchanted
As e'er beneath a waning moon was haunted
By woman wailing for her demon-lover!

Wow-
Great poem on how so many lives can be hurt by one wrong thing.  Sometimes the truth hurts.  And fighting does to.
Poetically yours

 Be careful!
It's a jungle out there!
