Verse One: I have faith
       One day I will hope
To be able to love again.
       Faith, hope, love
            But the greatest of these
       Is only a mem'ry
To a heart that is torn
       And the long-stemmed rose
       Has pricked me with thorns.
I look down from the wall
       And I watch myself fall

Chorus:   The longest way to any point
     Is walking a straight line
     And the widest river
I have to cross
Is the fall of a teardrop
       And the greatest of these
       What I can't forget
     Is only a memory
       To me.

Verse Two: This faith I have
       I need
To be able to live each day
       Faith, have, need
       And the greatest of these
     Is only a mem'ry
     To a promise that's broken
And the band I wear
Has choked me with hope
I look up from this hole
How I wish I was whole . . .

Chorus: The longest way to any point
Is walking a straight line
And the widest river
I have to cross
Is the fall of a teardrop
And the greatest of these
What I can't forget . . .

Bridge: Drop it, it breaks
Spill it, it splatters
Love it, it hates
Kill it, it shatters

Chorus: The longest way to any point
     Is walking a straight line
     And the widest river
I have to cross
Is the fall of a teardrop
       And the greatest of these
       What I can't forget . . .

End Chorus: What I can't forget
(the longest)
Is only a memory
(the widest)
I can't forget this memory
(the greatest)
Is only a memory
To me.

Wow...that's just amazing.  The whole second verse with the contradictions just blew me away...great job!

Thanks both of you.  I have to admit, though, that this is one of my least favorites.  It seems really cheesy to me.  (I'm a dork, though.) -wen
