The words flow freely from my pen,
Like tiny demons haunting, taunting.
The whys and why nots,
Like tickling, torturing tentacles,
Tease my brain, telling me I am insane.
They steal away the peace I once thought came with age,
Yet now age and time are my worst enemies.
I hear the pitiful cries of lost dreams,
Lamenting desperately, hopelessly for revival,
Writhing in the agony of unrealization.
They will not die,
But only suffer endlessly,
Imprisoned by circumstance.
I smell the foul stench of conformity,
Wrenching from my grasp and dragging from my reach,
The things that I want,
The things that I need,
The things that need me.
I watch, like a movie,
My life as it should be.
The scenes play out without a plot,
Yet still they enthrall me.
The actors waft about like apparitions,
There, then gone,
Speaking in cryptic dialogue.
I laugh, I cry, I feel at home.
And then the lights come up.
They blind me, sicken me,
I feel I may throw up.

The medicine will heal me soon.
I feel the warmth already.
Soon I will rest.
True peace WILL come at last.
