Pain, an ever present friend,
Not often leaving my side,
How many times I hugged my knees to my chest,
Hung my head and cried.

Fear, another visitor,
Who makes itself known,
A fear of what tomorrow shall bring,
A fear I'll be all alone.

Grief, another soldier,
Who visits quite regularly,
Grief for times past and loved ones lost,
Perpetual pain, no respite I can forsee.

Hope, a bed side partner,
I embrace and welcome in my days,
Hope embraces me at night,
Hope comforts me and shares her kindly ways.

Love, a welcome friend,
I try to share it with all,
A comforting friend, a joy to know,
Without love I'd end it all.

I have other friends who visit me,
They fill my life with flavour,
They are my reason, rhyme and season,
Perhaps one day love will by my saviour.

I have had many of those same companions. Wether welcome or not, I accept them. We must feel to know we're alive. Another good one Isis.

I like the beginings of all the stanzas.  Kinda like questions you thougt of Pain, Fear, Grief, Hope and Love!  and the ending was magnificent!!!!! Perhaps one day love will be my saviour.  As if you did not know!! LOL< !signature-->

Sounds like we've kept the same company, Isis.  Love, indeed, can be a savior...I hope you find it soon.  Great poem.

Love will be your saviour my friend. . . but even love has its own schedule. . .

Take care. . .

Uck...those are the kinds of friends you wish would just leave you alone...getting awfully tired of them. Except of course for love and hope...those are welcome. And I hope that you find it someday Isis. But you wanna hear my idea..for the time being?  Well, everything that you experience..everything that you think or feel, etc.....all contributes to the person you are at this very moment. And Isis...I'm sure others agree with me when I say that you're a beautiful person who can somehow find light where the fire has seemed to have gone out. If you didn't have these friends...you probably wouldn't be the same as you are now. And I think I'd miss you. I know it doesn't really push away the pain...but I think that it offers some kind of comfort or strength out of your pain and fear and grief. You're a better, stronger person because of it. But I don't know..that's just the way I look at things. Well, sometimes. But anyway...great job Isis!   < !signature-->

Thanks everyone for your comments ..
Dark Enchantress every life experience ie challenge, sorrow or problem does indeed help mould us into the person we are today.  You hit the nail on the head for me with your comment.  I believe as you and I'm thankful for every expereince I've had, for it has opened my eyes, helped me discover who and what I am and what I want and need. The powers that be work in mysterious ways.
I agree with you totally.  Thanks   (HUGS)
