WHERE ROSES NEVER FADE

I feel the bitter Winter's frost.
I make my way, although I'm lost.
This path of Darkness I have chose,
A bed of thorns to lay my rose.
The signs lead on, a trusted guide,
(Tomorrow's intention defied),
But can't close the doors of the past,
Or change the die of Fate been cast.

An open wound for all to see,
In bleeding tears of Misery.
Rivers of passion from the throes
Of estranged souls with faces froze,
Who all walk far beyond the call
To place their bricks upon the wall.
By funeral pyre ne'er to melt,
That chilling scowl only I've felt.

Where crumbled at the base I cry
In fetal embrace of a lie.
Naked to the world in shame,
By wilted petals bear all blame.
Around my neck the albatross
Of truth recounted as their loss;
Lies so carefully preconceived,
Even the liar is deceived.

Must I atone for every sin?
Why must I bleed for fallen kin?
Why must I pay the sinner's price?
Is that my path to paradise?
Or am I damned to die in wait,
Flailing from the gallows of Hate?
Is this cruel sentence depicted,
Subconsciously self-inflicted?

Am I the source of my own pain,
No other recourse left to feign?
Do I wait to be justified,
Freed from the penalty of Pride?
Why do I fear arms around me
Lo, crown myself with Misery?
What claim have I to her thrown?
What comfort awaits me, alone?

Ambition burns the eyes of youth,
Yet embers in the name of Truth.
Where every truth's a promise made,
Someplace where roses never fade.
And with each rose, a promise kept,
Through dreaming eyes that have not slept.
Where from Darkness I still can't see
The flower you have found in me.

I don't think I've ever seen such pain written so beautifully!!!  My heart goes out to anyone who's experienced such losses...And your signature is so touching- it relates to your poem more than anything!!!  Well done Micheal!!

Any response would be lacking to the quality of your effort.  Impressive as always.

Absolutely incredible!!!! I really feel this is one of your greatest pieces. You are such a master of words and it astounds me. Very well done and very haunting.

A storm of a poem - tumultuous and strong. This is excellent Michael - just excellent.

Where every truth's a promise made,
Someplace where roses never fade.
And with each rose, a promise kept,
Through dreaming eyes that have not slept.

Love those lines

It really shows when someone has written
from the heart. God Bless

most poets are very sensitive & can express what they feel quite well..michael must be in the fiery furnace of his mind as of lately, but like I say, some of my best works have came because of the darkness of the trial..yep- very good sir..I hope you can write such heavy, heartfelt expressions without actually feeling what you write-but I doubt it! Praise God for the hot trials so we can write good stuff, huh?? love it-keep up the good work. The agony will work it's own self out..be content in whatsoever state you happen to be in..we are there for a reason...james david

Incredible work Michael!

the heart finds its morning
and is refreshed.

Uh....I read this 3 times over, and I guess somewhere in there, I forgot to reply!  Sorry babe, I'm a little "scattered" of late!  LOL
I shiver at your ability to write.  Period.
I am so glad I have found someone who "compliements" me in so many ways....Our interests, our talents, our beliefs, our love, our dreams, our desires, our passion, our God.  Need I go on?  I feel your aching in this, but I sense a bit of calm at the end because I have found you - - in whatever state you were in, and lifted you up to breathe you into my soul....I found you fragrant sir.

For an entire week, I will breathe you in, and our souls will dance across waves of the ocean blue.

Thank you all for the kind comments.

Nan, you're absolutely right...

Devina, the signature is heartfelt and sincere, spoken from experience.

Wildchild, TY, that's quite a compliment.

James, I surely can't write about emotions I am not feeling...But I do thank God for the ability to express my feelings through my writing.

Gen, I am at a calm since finding you but there still lies a question in the back of my mind of what worth I am to you...What you could possibly see in me that I cannot in myself.  Whatever it is, I hope it's always there and I hope we are always together.  You are my strength in times such as these.  I love you.

Over and over and over again you astound me with your words.  Michael you seem to have so many things to say and I'm glad as a reader.  Once again you stump me.....

I think Pff will show you how to loose the past and make a future. As always a riveting read.
