BY BLOOD ALONE

Deep through the shallows of the mind,
What memory recalls.
An eidolon etched in the blind,
The effigy appalls.

That pallid hue, mendacious eyes.
Alas, brothers by blood and birth,
Invalidated due rapacious lies-
Do part, for what it's worth.

An emphatic, dogmatic overtone,
What truly canst this war win?
Denounced of blood, by blood alone,
Applied duly, the cost is kin.

Branded to shame, blessed but by ill,
The invoked curse is stillborn pride.
Remanded blame, tempestuous will,
The masterstroke - phlegmatic fratricide.

Thief of words, author of disrespect,
With rage and raving tongue.
To loathe and writhe will I reflect,
And sorrows to be wrung.

For who am I to fortify
These embattlements of hate?
Testify against or mortify
Those I would exonerate?

Or chasten for simply reminding me,
That even blood, once dry, turns dust?
Or thank for so obligingly
Exoculating my ideals of trust?

Or weep away long hours in the dark,
Harkened to that black conspiratorial tone?
For all I've loved have left me this mark,
Denounced of blood, by blood, alone.

No worries, Isis. Time heals all, to some extent anyway. This poem is about 2 years old, just threw it in here so you all didn't think I had abandoned this place. My brother and i are on good terms these days, even if it took awhile to rebuild the trust.

Micheal, this is wonderful. It reminds me of the relationship I have with my father. It is an unfortunate thing. I feel he is only my father by blood alone. But I don't let it be known openly, to him anyway. Great work and I'm glad you have worked things out with your brother. It is despairing to have a such battles within the family.
