ALREADY DEAD

Elbows on the table, hands to my cheeks,
What's holding up my head?
Willing and able, a voice inside speaks,
Tells me I'm already dead.

Outside stars fade with the coming of dawn-
As I watch Night's beauty subside.
The daily charade of a useless pawn,
There's no where left to hide.

Obligations arise, blinding the eyes,
This, a world so full of expectation.
Buried in the lies, the scurried cries-
Only echo alienation.

Time drives slow, a stake through the heart.
The hours, they stretch out before me.
I search yet know but the scripted part-
Of constants ever to implore me.
The elegant flow of a dying art,
God, there's nothing left here for me.

Is it wrong to hope of painless days?
Alas, all feeling's fled.
Clinched tight, the rope of other's ways-
Ripping my hands, skin worn and red.
I hold, I cope, yet reality says-
I am already dead.

Thanks for the sweep, Femme, hehe.  Glad that's all cleared up.

TY Starboards,   this is actually a poem I wrote some time back - just thought I'd dig it out to see what people thought of it.

I am glad to have company amongst the ranks of walking dead my friend.

Now and forever, my heart hears ~one voice~.

Wow!  I almost passed this one up.  Glad I caught it.  It was amazing as always.  Very expressive.
I count the times I have felt already dead even though I'm alive.
