Over the past few days I've noticed that many people have ceased to respond to many of the poems and as far as i know Dark Passions is notorious for responding many times to all of the poems...has anyone else seen this happening?? You see, to me, writing poetry is a sort of couseling or guidance  and if people dont respond to my poems it kindof defeats the purpose of posting poems in the first place!! Maybe I"m just rambling...please tell me what you think

You're right, we should answer more. I know I, myself have been a bit preoccupied lately and simply haven't logged in as often or taken the effort. A good reminder of what this "family" is really about star.

I have noticed a decrease...or maybe my poems just suck. =) Either, or...you're not the only one. I usually don't even turn on my computer unless I have a specific purpose in mind so it's kinda unlike me to be checking around everyday, but I do try to read as many as I can and reply to them.

I noticed it too, it comes in waves, up and down.  People are busy, checking out other forums etc.  I have posted a notice about this before and things picked up briefly.

What we have to do all of us regulars is double our efforts to read others work and post a response.  We are every bit as good as op4 and look at their responses, how I'd love to be in that league

All I can say is read and respond to at least 5 other poems before posting one of your own, then read another five etc.

If we all work together and keep trying hopefully things will pick up.

We must keep in mind to that it is Xmas and people are spending more time with families etc.  I myself maybe be very fleeting Dec. 25 and 26....

Be patient, and keep reading and responding

I for one don't respond much at all because I try to read as much poetry as I can. The only times I do respond are to poems that I really really enjoyed reading and to people who are very very active on the site and respond to everybody, so its only right, and when an old poem doesn't a have responce. I think that if I respond to every thing I read then I couldn't read half the poetry I could if I didn't respond. A lack of responce doesn't mean people dont like your poetry. Although if I didnt get a single responce I would be bothered by it. I write poetry not for the gratification but because I love to write and bring what I write to others. I dont need a pat on the back, but thats just how I feel, I am probably the minority.

It's been a very hectic time for me over the past few weeks. I'm just starting to chill a bit and get back into passions full force. I'm sure things will pick up after the holidays.

Best wishes to all for the Holidays.

P.S.

If any of you can, how about stopping in on DP somtime around the millenium hour. I will be at work and would love to be able to talk to all of you.

Your observation is 100% correct.  The decrease in replying started in Novemember.  I had made a point to try to get to know everyone posting here...but with the losses of a few close friends who do not post at Passions anymore, it almost feels like this forum is foreign to me now.
Isis has posted a similiar notice and I wrote a poem (drawing few replies...LOL) about the issue earlier this month.  I still make efforts to try to meet one and all who post here and develop a casual atmosphere, and new friendships.  lately, though, with the exception of a slim few, I feel like I am in a roon full of strangers wearing opposite colors.
Bloodties, Even if someone doesn't feel comfortable replying to poetry - it takes absolutely nill time or effort to post a smiley face...at least show the author the respect of letting them know you enjoyed their work.
D.E., your poems don't suck.  Please don't feel intimidated in anyway by the lack of replying here.
Lostboy & Freebyrd, I have never seen a lack of response when you were posting, I doubt this was directed in either of yours direction so much as people who simply post but never reply.
I would also note for those that post 5 or 6 poems in a day, less replies usually come with more posts.  I know my time is limited, and I like to read as much as I can - but I also want to read from as many different authors as I can.  I usually make it a point to read from eveyone who's posted before I get to the second & third postings from any one author in particular.  I know many others feel the same here.
Starboards, I am glad you brought this up again, it is really nice to find the  concerns of isis an I is shared by others.

Hey starboards, and everyone else! I hear what you're saying. I myself have tried to read and respond to as many poems as I can. Like Micheal said, its a way to try to get to know the poets who post here. I think the responses are better now than they were the last time Isis posted a statement about this. But there's always room for improvement.

I think the holidays to have alot to do with it too. This is the first time Ive been on the computer in days. And I'm about to go out of town for another few. But I look forward to enjoying and responding to all the poems I've missed when i get back!

neway- Good point star. it doesn't hurt to remind us that responses are important.
