I wore this mask for you
The one that you picked out for me
I would never have worn it if I knew
That I would be hiding myself for none to see.

For you I wore this mask
Thinking that it was what you wanted
I put it right on, I didn't even ask
If it would leave me feeling haunted.

Haunted by the decisions I made,
     the things I gave up
The things that make me who I am
The decision that made me drink from this cup
And put up this wall, this dam.

I'll wear this mask no more
I have worn it for far too long
I'll be the person I was before
This mask will not stifle my song.

and haunting quality..drug me right into it

I loved this! I think we have all made that mistake. But maybe in the end, it has helped us to figure out who we really are, ya think?

Nicely done and an important lesson learned.
