Do you ever think of me,
Know the depths of my despair?
Do you remember the past,
And agree it was so unfair?

Are you now just crouched at a window
Watching the world go by?
A glimpse of happiness occasionally,
Do you sometimes cry?

Cry for what could have been,
Or should have been,
New journeys to discover,
A love glimpsed but not seen?

Rising fright,
Hideous laughter,
Dismal day to day,
No happy ever after.

Dreams are all you have now,
But they can't keep you warm,
No-one to share the beauty,
Of a summer's evening storm.

Mortgaged soul,
Limited means,
Like I told you,
Life ain't what it seems.

I am here, a silent climber,
A damsel in distress,
Come join me again,
Then our souls will rest.
