Midnight musings call me from my bed,
'No sleep for you tonight!' they said,
I rise, walk to the window, the full moon I see,
Why has this melancholy befallen me?

Thoughts all fast and furious,
Crowd in trying to make themselves known,
Again I feel the grief and lonliness,
Right down to the bone.

This is my night for remembering,
Things painful from my past,
It's amazing so many years on,
How these feelings can last.

Ruined friendships, lost loves,
Deaths of family members,
So many painful memories,
Didn't realise there was this much to remember.

Special people all lost to me now,
My little baby daughter who never saw the light of day,
Grandparents, such fighters they were,
But they couldn't beat old death no matter how much they could pay.

There is nothing harder to face,
Then feeling all alone,
When problems overwhelm you,
There's no one you can phone.

These horrendous feelings,
Knowing you've been misunderstood,
Knowing at 12.35 am,
You did the best you could.

You just gotta hope your doing it right,
Shake off these feelings of doubt,
Go to sleep, wake to fight another day,
Or you'll always be the one left out.

Does any one human being,
REALLY understand another,
Within where it counts most?
Or do they just fake understanding, not wanting to really bother?

I hope it's true,
You CAN be completely understood,
Otherwise is there any point at all?
No comprehension just banging your head on wood.

Freud said the two things that were the driving force of the human race were
1 the need to feel important, and
2 the need for sexual gratification

if you can't have one you can always have the other, they do remedy each other.

Freud may have been a brilliant man, but I'm not sure about that. Maybe he should have said sexual gratification with someone who cares about you. I'm still waiting for that...And in the meantime, I'm walking the floors with you, L.

Lolita.....for a long time I have neither.....though I'm only 15, not an age where sexual gratification should be a big deal....

Isis......this poem captured something that happens to me frequently.

I believe one person can completely understand another...but until this happened to me I would not have believed one person could even completely tolerate another person. Goo poem, Isis...i know exactly where you're coming from.
