It sits undaunted at the edge of the grove, breathing heavily, the wind in it's hair
Hide creased deeply with age
Its gnarled claws furrow painfully through the helpless soil,
Moist from morning's tears
Tangled and matted, its leafy tresses are woven into braids and knots
That catch the breeze and throw it back
Surround the sun
And squeeze it within its grasp
Always reaching upward and out
As if to grab the sky by the throat
Boastful and bullying
Dismantling the lacy shroud of fog
That envelopes it
Tries to cover it up

Wonderful imagery here, D.B. I won't pester you for what "it" is...I will just sit back here and dwell on this for awhile.

How's the dwelling, M?

What do YOU think it is? What I think isn't important! I care what you all think.

Tom, I would never get mad at you for expressing your opinion.

This is an easy one people. Are you forgetting that a goofball wrote this? ( At least as far as my Father is concerned.) You are all so intelligent and introspective that you're missing it. But if you want to make it your own, that makes me happy too.

I love you, all.

Can't find the keys to your place. Seeking shelter under those beautiful trees again?

Well after all, we BYRD's have a special bond with the Woody Perennial.

Got a chuckle over Isis going out on a limb.

Always a good read my friend

Thank you

A well imaged poem about a tree. I like it.
