TO HELL AND BACK

Love, accosted from staunch regale,
(All I hold exquisite and bright),
‘Er frosted wings ‘neath shroud and veil
Shall fly bold in Aurora's light.

If but dared dream or backward glance,
In mind, in name, or notion fled.
If ‘hind the gleaming eye of chance
Swung blind to claim Medusa's head.

Seeking Athena's precious pearls,
Finding, reeling, perils of Truth.
Peeking, Death, from dark shadow swirls
His scythe, stealing away thy youth.

By serpent sting thy soul been weighed,
Charon guides thee across the Styx.
To ne'er ‘gain sing, thy price been paid,
Chaos chides thee as , too, doth Nyx.

Lo, wretched hands bidding no pass,
Pulling, reaching, grasping at thee.
By the sands of Cronus' hourglass
Beseeching grants thou unto me.

In flaming red of fiery lake
While stirred by beast to bubbling brim,
Thy soul, not dead, doth now partake
Of Hades feast the hell in him.

Beholding in thy maddened view
High Erebus watching from throne -
Enfolding within saddened hue,
Cerberus gnawing barren bone -
In heinous lieu hellish adieu,
Thus reign forever there, alone.

Lo, revel in the afterthought,
By chance, to sing thee from this fate.
Bedevil the devil's scouring lot,
Echoes in ring do mitigate.

Following voice, herald my song,
Lest ye be lost as Eurydice.
Orpheus choice, in woe, in wrong,
Hells' line been crossed, a poignant price.

Thereby, from sorrow, eyes uplift,
From anguish give thy voice to wrath.
Whereby the cry henceforth shall rift
Hell to languish in aftermath.

No more alone, now, stand in hand,
No indignation pent on thee.
The torn earth in groan where you stand,
Creation's moaning misery.

Woe being a time thou wert gone,
How stings ye in pain, unforgiving?
Lo, seeing thy crime, carry on,
Now sings ye ‘gain, ‘mongst the living.

And so, being young and dipt in folly
I fell in love with melancholy,
But dreams - of those who dream as I,
Aspiringly, are damned, and die:

You could very well be writing your own Iliad. A wide mix of different dieties here.
From different belief systems. I like.
