We all build walls
To keep us "safe"
With hearts of
Mud, or glass, or tin

The mud heart melts
To ennui's wave
With naught to drive
There's naught to save

The heart of glass
Is often battered
And by love's fist
Is easily shattered

The tin-made heart
Is my desire
Though dented, pierced and dunned

I'll get by 'neath
A gel-glow moon
My broken tin heart
Whistles broken tin tunes

That float weakly over
The wall I have built
And tugs your hurt's blade
Driven in to the hilt

Your pain is forever
Hurt's handle Tune holds
And tries to ease suffering
Till my hands Death folds

The moon was bright overhead when I reembarked in the pinnace to return to my ship. A chill night breeze came whispering down from the depths of the valley, and suddenly the place was full of ghosts,-shadows of men alive and dead,- my own among them.

My broken tin heart
Whistles broken tin tunes.

You are a Playwright today of broken hearts.
I'm so glad you found this forum

Painful rendition, Deep Blue, Hit very hard with this one. Reminds me of the not too distant past me thinks. In your own words, Mahalo.

Jen - thank you, you have been locked on for a while now, you know my thoughts.
Michael - you have been as close as I have found to a literary big brother and I thank you for your pursuit of perfection that drives me to get beyond where I am.
Watcher - You are the watcher, thanks for taking a walk in the mindgarden.

He grew away from old associations and saw something new in life and humanity. Secondarily, he made close acquaintance with phenomena which he had before known but darkly - the seasons in their moods, morning and evening, night and noon, winds in their different tempers, trees, waters and mists, shades and silences, and the voices of inanimate things.
