Alone, forgotten and forlorn
The emptiness quiet and dark
Thinking my heart could handle this
Now knowing the pain hit its mark.

I saw you in the street today
The meeting just by chance
I couldn't look the other way
And noticed your longing glance.

Why do we do this to ourselves?
Torture, and killing pain
When being together would be the cure
If only to keep me sane.

Sleep eludes me night after night
More sorrowful and tired I grow
Friends are starting to ask me
Is there help that they can show?

They have no idea whats going on
Of my broken heart and torn up mind
Sometimes I just wish life would end
But fate won't be that kind.

I know thats not the answer here
For death is no way out
It just leaves others wondering
In pain and always in doubt.

Is it obsession or is it love?
Of neither I'm no longer sure
The one thing that I realize
The need to make my soul pure.

Forgive me for writing of you more time
I hate myself for doing it
If only memories could be erased
I'd remember you not one bit.

Alone, forgotten and forlorn
The emptiness begins to grow loud
For now the answer is clear to me
My heart has been broken now.

I am so sorry. I know this feeling all too well, in fact I am feeling it right now. It is the worst of all pain that exists. All we can really do is wait for it to pass, and someone new to take their place. I have been waiting for 3 years now... waiting, hoping, wishing, praying, think I found it but may never know. Oh how this painful wait consumes my life. I wish the very best to you, my dear. It hurts beyond all comprehension. Here is a hug from me {{{{{{Spoongirl28}}}}}}

Spoon...it seems your work is reflecting
my torrid soul. So glad you have come here to share with us all

Hi Spoon,
Don't be forlorn dearest of hearts
Don't let again those teardrops start
You rend the sky with your soul's pain
Your words can squeeze the clouds of rain
So let them out in sentence parts
It's there that blessed healing starts
You're so much more than someone's love.

I love your work,
D.B.

I know this feeling well For what it's worth, you have my sympathy.

You ask a very good question in:

"Why do we do this to ourselves?
Torture, and killing pain
When being together would be the cure
If only to keep me sane."

I wish that I knew the answer to that, might help me out a bit!

Spoongirl, I think we all torture ourselves with memory at one point or another. Indeed, we may hate ourselves for doing it but it is neccessary to our healing also. I truly felt the pain behind this one...good job of depicting the conflict of emotion.

I agree, it sucks when death isn't even a way out. Somethings will haunt you forever.
Very sad poem.
