THE GHOUL'S TOUCH

I can hardly hold my eyes open,
Yet I'm so far away from sleep.
My thoughts riddled in ridicule,
Are my dreams really priced so cheap?

My hope, a feeble castle of sand,
Lying on the shores of misleading.
Awaiting bride meets the celestial tide
Of solemn Sorrow, bleeding.

From baby's breath to white laced death.
From wedding march to funeral pyre.
Selling heart and soul to pay the toll
Of her insatiate desire.

Ambition fails, intentions grow stale.
Fruition flees into the night.
Love, a lost whisper, truth, a white lie,
Emotion, a river of spite.

Her Medusa eyes still chasing me,
Lurk the shadows of recall.
Hideously laughing in the rumbling
Of every crumbling wall.

Paralyzed, thy ghoul's touch
Hath branded me once more.
Lying arrow straight on the mattress,
The serpent slithers ‘cross the floor.

I scream out in a voiceless shout,
The cry ebbed within my head..
The dreams of wife, of love, of life,
Alive, within me, all lie dead.

And after-drunkeness of soul
Succeeds the glory of the bowl -
An idle longing night and day
To dream my very life away

Nice job Michael....as usual...I kinda thought maybe, (by the title), that this was gonna be a poem about some gal that Balladeer fondled?....But, I still wasn't disappointed.

Very painful, yet very beautiful...your imagery and all.....please call me this morning - there is no trace of your # around the house this morning if you can guess what that means....I'm leaving soon, so I hope you get this message soon. Anymore, I don't know where to leave messages, as you only get 1/2 of them. I love you.

Well, Femme, loving you has been a numbing sensation all to itself(in a very good way) but no, you are not the Ghoul I speak of in this dream.

Ghouls feed upon the flesh of the living. When you are dead, they no longer care. Take it as a sign of life if she still feeds.
